The GC's formed 8 years ago in Queenstown New zealand and has since seen numerous changes in line up and style. Tony and Sam have always been the core members of the band and have worked hard to find the perfect formula of musicianship, versability and an unforgettable live show.

Matthew Gregg joined the band during summer 2008. Sam was originally the second guitarist of the group but switched to Bass duties as the band switched to a three piece line up. Each member of the band has being playing in bands since they were 14 and are all accomplished musicians with varying influences.

Tony started playing the drums at age 12 starting out in blues bands in Dunedin at clubs bars and universities. His first band opened for George thourghgood and the destroyers. He has been a professional working musician for 20 years playing many prominent gigs.

Sam started playing guitar at a young age taught by his father who is a renowned musician in the local scene. Sam is in partnership with his fathers business 'Remakable audio' and teaches music at arrowtown primary school. He studied music at the University of Otago and he has also been a member of well known kiwi acts Fold and The Feelers.

Matt starting playing guitar at age 13 and there was no going back.. His first major influence was Jimi Hendrix. Matt was a member of the band Deep Kick, they won 1st place in the Otago regional rockquest they went on to take 2nd place in the national competition and win the best songwriters award. They played the Rip curl big air comp viewed by millions wordwide and two Rippon festivals. Matt studied music at the University of Otago and also he had the oppertunity to join an elite New Zealand punk rock group 'Kitsch'
Last year Matt recorded a country/folk album in Oregon U.S.A. entitled 'Black wolves in the white alps'. You can check out the demos here: www.myspace.com/matthewgregg
Matt works fulltime playing with the G.C.s and is also writing new material for his next solo album to be recorded in Austin Texas later this year.

Gigs

The G.C's play 3 nights a week in Queenstown New Zealand and Sam and Matt spend the remaining nights doing solo acoustic shows and playing in there acoustic duo 'The whiskey pickers'

The primary focus of the GC's sound is punchy rock but all have a common interest in Blues/ country/ soul/ classic rock and punk. We all really just love well written songs and depending on the show you may hear us playing any one of these styles. We believe our versatile live act to cater for any situation makes us a stand out act.
